Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is a Bollywood movie released in 1998. Directed by Karan Johar, the film stars Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Rani Mukerji and Divya Dutta. This romantic comedy revolves around two friends Ishaan (Shah Rukh Khan) and Raj (Kajol). The couple goes through various relationships but their blossoming love for each other never dies. They are separated because of differences between both families after the sudden death of Ishaan's sister Ishika because she was pregnant with Raj's child. When they are finally reunited it is too late, owing to the fact that both have married other people. Their story ends with the wedding of Ishaan and Anjali (Divya Dutta). Saurabh (Shah Rukh Khan) is the new guy in town. He is rich, friendly and fun. His friends call him 'Sulli' (meaning guy) because he's nonchalantly guy-like. So, everyone thinks of him as girl girl type. He initially dislikes Ishika (Kajol), who he sees as very macho even though she denies it. When Ishika's brother Rajan (Aftab Shivdasani) tells him that she has gone to Dubai to arrange her marriage, Saurabh forms an opinion about her that is incorrect. When she comes back, she denies having arranged her marriage. Rajan and Ishika's father (Dalip Tahil) get engaged to a girl named Naina. However, Rajan is secretly in love with Ishika. They try to get married but fail because her family thinks otherwise and breaks the engagement. Raj and Saurabh get close and become best friends. Saurabh falls in love with Ishaan's cousin Anjali (Divya Dutta). She does not know that he loves her because he is very shy and sweet regarding such matters. He likes to be around her but is too afraid to tell her about his feelings for fear of rejection. Eventually, his friends tell Anjali and she rejects Saurabh for Ishaan (Raj had talked to Anjali on Saurabh's behalf and told her that he loved her). However, Ishaan does not feel the same way. Soon after that, Ishika's cousin Nikhil (Sameer Chitre) comes visiting. He had seen Ishika at a wedding and had fallen in love with her looks and had come to marry her. One day, Rajan comes to see Ishaan as he is feeling down because of the failure of his marriage with Naina. Rajan tells Ishaan that he is in love with Ishika. He also tells him that his father had come to see him and told him about the arranged marriage with Nikhil.
